The Institute has qualified staff to support research in language education, to give advice on curriculum and to conduct training programs. Institute members will receive research advice and support. Members will be encouraged to build networks for collaboration and for sharing experiences and information. Facilities will be arranged for researchers and associates to work as resident scholars. Visiting scholars are invited to undertake research on specified projects. Postgraduate students will be encouraged to make contact with the Institute to receive advice on relevant research proposals.
ARI manages the professional qualification, the Graduate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). The Graduate Diploma is a recognised international qualification for TESOL teachers. The content is based on the latest research on language learning and teaching. The Diploma engages students with the theory and practice of text-based teaching in six subjects covering curriculum, research, assessment, methodology, evaluation and professional practices. The Diploma is designed as a professional qualification for language teachers.
